Lena Emma Leist, 82, of Cuero passed away Tuesday, April 25, 2017. She was born June 19, 1934 in Hochheim to the late Louis and Frieda Boening Blank. Lena married the love of her life, Wilfred Frank Leist on May 8, 1955 in Yoakum.

She cared for children in her home, was a clerk at Bottom Dollar for years, and was a lunch lady at Cuero Junior High and High School. Lena was a charter member and past president of the Cuero VFW Auxiliary, was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church and the Cuero Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, and was a lifetime member of Herman Sons. She enjoyed baking, playing bingo, spending time with her family, and going to Coushatta.

She was preceded in death by her parents; beloved husband; sisters, Annie Lou Leist and Edna Mae Prause; brothers, Gerhardt Blank and George Blank; and three angel great-grandbabies.

Visitation will be Thursday, April 27, 2017 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Freund Funeral Home. Services will be Friday, April 28, 2017, 10 a.m., at St. Mark's Lutheran Church with Pastor Sharon Wiggins officiating. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery.
