August William Blank, age 87 of Victoria, passed away Monday, November 6, 2017. He was born May 31, 1930 in Hocheim to the late Louis and Freida Boening Blank. August married the love of his life Rosalie Immenhauser on February 5, 1951 at St. Anne's Catholic Church in Yoakum.

At age 20 he joined the Army to serve his country where he was an Xray technician and a medic in the Korean War. He gave up a small service station in Yoakum to work in the oilfield working his way up to be a tool pusher and later a consultant where he eventually retired at age 76.

He loved his large family and many friends, his polka music and playing dominos. There was never a time he didn't have a smile on his face and jokes coming from his lips. He was always the brightest light in a room making everyone happy to be around him and always full of laughter. August also enjoyed being an usher for many years at St. Mary's Catholic Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Annie Lou Leist, Edna Mae Prause, Lena Emma Leist; brothers, Gerhardt Blank, George Blank and an angel great-grandbaby.

Visitation will be held Friday, November 10, 2017 from 5-7 PM at Rosewood Funeral Chapel with a rosary to follow at 7 PM.

Funeral Mass will be Saturday, November 11, 2017 at 2 PM at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Shillerville Cemetery with full military honors under the auspices of the Victoria Veterans Council.
