Conrad "Coonie" Lesser (Age 99) of Ritzville, passed away Tuesday, February 13, 2007 in Spokane, WA. The son of Conrad and Mary (Urich) Lesser Sr., Conrad was born February 1, 1908 in Lincoln, NB. At a young age he moved with his family to the Ruff, WA area, where he attended school through the eighth grade. Coonie and his brothers worked the orchards in California and the Wenatchee Valley for many years traveling back and forth by freight train. While in Wenatchee he met his wife Zelma Bitterman. They were married February 14, 1937. They lived in Ritzville where he worked many years driving truck for Snider Trucking and for Schuler Premix. Zelma preceded him in death in 1970. Conrad married Helen Franks and together they lived in Oakskale, WA where they farmed her family farm. The farm sold in 1980, but Coonie continued to drive tractor until 1994 when he retired and they moved to Spokane. In 1997 they moved to Ritzville. Helen preceded him in death in May of 2003. The past seven years he has resided at the Rose Garden Estates in Ritzville. He attended Philadelphia Congregational Church, was a member of the Elks Lodge of Wenatchee, the Eagles Lodge of Ritzville and was a life time member of the Ritzville Gun Club. He had many friends and never met a stranger. He was preceded in death by his two wives, brothers Harold, Fred and Karl, and by five sisters Frieda Miller, Delores Kilgore, Amelia Hose, Pauline Rehn and Maxine Lesser. Surviving is a son Torre Lesser and wife Marty of Mesa, AZ, daughters Ronna Galbreath and husband Gary, and LaRae Way and husband Jim all of Ritzville, grandchildren, Rick and Mont Lesser, Tracey LaRae Young, Marva Ulleland, Janet Sprenger, Dona Forrester and Connie Galbreath, Ronna Falkner and Michael Way, 14 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. Memorial Services will be held on Monday, February 19, 2007, at 1:00 PM., at the Zion Philadelphia United Church of Christ, Ritzville, WA. Private vault interment will be at Ritzville Memorial Cemetery. DANEKAS FUNERAL HOME, RITZVILLE, WA is in charge of funeral arrangements. Visitation will be at the Danekas Funeral Home on Friday, February 16, 2007 from 1 to 5 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to the Zion Philadelphia UCC Memorial Fund, 301 E. Broadway, Ritzville, WA.
