Services for Henry H. Doehrmann, 87, Williamsburg, will be held at 1:30 p.m. today, March 3, at Immanuel Lutheran church, rural Williamsburg, with the Rev. Gaylen Burow officiating.
Doehrmann died early Tuesday morning, March 1, 1983 at the Williamsburg Care center where he had been a resident for a few weeks. Prior to that he had been a medical patient in Mercy hospital, Iowa City, about two weeks.
Organist Linda (Mrs. Gaylen) Burow will accompany the congregational singing of "What a Friend We Have in Jewsus" and "I'm But a Stranger Here."
Flowers will be cared for by the Lawrence Matthes, Fairfax, and the Earl Glandorfs, rural Homestead.
Burial will be in the church cemetery with casket bearers Wayne Von Ahsen, Allan, Dean and Raymond Doehrmann, all of the Williamsburg area; Henry Wardenburg, rural Marengo; and Bruce Doehrmann, Conroy.
Henry Helmar Doehrmann was born Jan. 17, 1896 in York township, Iowa county, east of Williamsburg, the son of Herman and Amelia Moennich Doehrman.
He was baptized at the Immanuel church Jan. 28, 1896 by the Rev. W. Baumhoefner. Later he attended the Immanuel parochial school and was confirmed at the church April 1, 1909, by the Rev. R. Uhlmann.
On Nov. 18, 1919 he married Hermina Sophia Newkirk at Immanuel Lutheran church with the Rev. R. Uhlmann officiating. They farmed in York township until retiring and moving into Williamsburg in 1968.
He was a member of the Immanuel church and served as a church elder and school board member.
He is survived by a daughter, Inez (Mrs. Myron) Bohrn, and three sons, Clarence, Eldon and Marven Doehrmann, all of Williamsburg; 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Emma (Mrs. Ernest) Glandorf, Williamsburg, and Anna (Mrs. Arnold) Glandorf, rural Homestead; and two brothers, Rudolph and Egon Doehrmann, both of Williamsburg.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Helmar, who died Oct. 25, 1955; his wife Hermina (Minnie), who died June 29, 1977; a grandson, Jonathan Paul Doehrmann; three brothers, Otto, Martin and Arnold; and two sisters, Frieda (Mrs. Anton) Heitshusen and Lydia (Mrs. Rudolf) Glandorf.
Visitation began after 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 2, at the Uhlmann Funeral home, Williamsburg.
