The obituary for Hermina Sophia (Newkirk) Doehrmann reads as follows:
Services for Mrs. Henry H. Doehrmann, 79, Williamsburg, were Saturday, July 2 at 2 p.m. at Immanuel Lutheran church, York township. The Rev. Donald A. Lutz officiated.
Mrs. Doehrmann had been in fading health the past six months and died June 29, 1977 of pneumonia at the Yearian nursing home, Williamsburg, where she had resided for about five months following hospitalization for a broken hip.
Mrs. Keith Von Ahsen, organist, accompanied congregational hymns, "What a Friend We Have in Jesus" and "I'm But a Stranger Here." Flowers were cared for by the Harold Ibergs and the Robert Hulls.
Casket bearers were Orville and Loren Von Ahsen, Robert and Kenneth Iburg, Oren Schmidt and Truman Wardenburg. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Hermine Sophie Doehrmann was born in Iowa township near Homestead, Sept. 15, 1897, to Edward Sr., and Anna Heitshusen Newkirk. Her early years were spent in Iowa and York townships where she received her education in the Immanuel Lutheran school. She was a lifelong member of the church and later the Ladies Aid.
Her marriage to Henry H. Doehrmann took place Nov. 18, 1919 in Immanuel Lutheran church. They farmed until the fall of 1968 when they retired and moved to Williamsburg.
Surviving in addition to her husband are four children, Clarence and Eldon, Mrs. Myron (Inez) Bohrn, all rural Williamsburg, and Marvin, Iowa City; 13 grandchildren; five great grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. William (Anna) Von Ahsen and Mrs. Otto (Elsie) Iburg, both Williamsburg, and a brother, Edward Newkirk, jr., Fairfax.
A son Helmuth, died in October 1955 and two sisters, Mrs. Adolph (Ida) Huedepohl and Amanda Newkirk also preceded her in death.
