Wilbert A. Kinkelaar, 83, of Effingham, Illinois, passed away peacefully on Sunday morning June 11, 2017, at his home.

A funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Effingham, Illinois. Burial will be in St. Anthony Cemetery in Effingham, Illinois. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday with a 7 p.m. Effingham Knights of Columbus 665 Rosary and Fourth Degree Rites at the church. Services are in the care of Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham, Illinois. Memorials may be made in loving memory of Wilbert to JoJo Looking for A Cure, Inc. Wilbert was born on March 22, 1934, in Effingham, Illinois, the son of Andrew and Philomena (Bloemer) Kinkelaar. He married Patricia "Pat" Schmidt on Aug. 18, 1956, at St. Mary's Help of Christian Church in Effingham (Green Creek), Illinois.

Wilbert served our country in the United States Army, being honorably discharged at the rank of Specialist. After years of employment, he retired from Yellow Freight. He was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church. Wilbert was a proud faithful member of the Effingham Knights of Columbus Council 665. He was a past Grand Knight and past Faithful Navigator who received the honor of being inducted into the Knights of Columbus Hall of Fame. He was very active and loved volunteering for many KC Council functions. He also donated his time to other charitable organizations as well.

Wilbert dearly loved his family and will be missed by all.
Wilbert is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Pat Kinkelaar of Effingham, Illinois; children, Tony (Elaine) Kinkelaar of St. Louis, Missouri; Steve (Vivian) Kinkelaar of Effingham, Illinois; Keith (Jane) Kinkelaar of Indianapolis, Indiana; Chris (Sandy) Kinkelaar of Effingham, Illinois; Eric (Alice) Kinkelaar of Seymour, Illinois; Karla (Joe) Hicks of Kokomo, Indiana; and Jon (Abby) Kinkelaar of Effingham, Illinois; 21 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; siblings, Paul (Judy) Kinkelaar, Betty A. Brown, Jean (Janice) Kinkelaar, all of Effingham, Illinois; and Danny (Eileen) Kinkelaar of Nokomis, Illinois; brother-in-law, Gene Runde of Teutopolis, Illinois; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; infant siblings, Anna Marie and Andrew; grandson, Jesse Lee Kinkelaar, son of Chris and Sandy; brothers, Leonard (Jeane) Kinkelaar and James F. Kinkelaar; sister, Lenora Runde; brother-in-law, Ron Brown; nephew, Phil Kinkelaar; niece, Kelly Brown; and great-niece, Cody Brannon.
