Leonard is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Kinkelaar and he married to Jeane Grunloh October 23, 1948. Jeanne's mother is Elizabeth Grunloh.

Leonard & Jeane are the parents of Beverly, Connie, Phil, and Dale.

Leonard J. Kinkelaar, 82, of Effingham, died at 12:35 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 3, 2009, at Evergreen Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Effingham.

A memorial mass will be 7 p.m. Sunday at St. Anthony of Padua Church, Effingham. Visitation will be 4 p.m. until service start at the church, with a Knights of Colombus rosary and Fourth Degree services starting at 6 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the St. Anthony Parish. Bauer Funeral Home, Effingham, is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Kinkelaar was born July 29, 1927, in Effingham, the son of Andrew and Philomena (Bloemer) Kinlelaar. He married Jeane Grunloh Oct. 23, 1948 in Green Creek.

Mr. Kinkelaar was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served during World War II. He worked at Prim's Bakery, which later became Holsum Bakery, in Effingham, and retired from Sunbeam Bread in 1982.

A lifetime member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Effingham, Mr. Kinkelaar was a member of Kinghts of Columbus Council 665 since 1947 and a Fourth Degree Knight since 1974.

He is survived by his wife; son, Dale Kinkelaar of Clarksburg, W.V.; daughters, Beverly Rentfrow of Effingham and Connie (husband, Brad) Brannon of Vandalia; brothers James, Wilbert (wife, Patricia), Paul (wife, Judy) and Jean (wife, Janice) Kinkelaar, all of Effingham, and Daniel (wife, Eileen) of Witt; sister, Betty (husband, Ron) Brown of Effingham; brother-in-law, Gene Runde of Teutopolis; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren and two step great-great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, son, Phil Kinkelaar, granddaughter, Coty Brannon, and sister, Lenora Runde.
