Fritz Jahnel Died Thursday, Services Saturday
Fritz Jahnel, 89 years of age, a resident of Washington county for 88 years, died Thurday at the McBride Home in Blair.
Funeral services were held Saturday at the Fort Calhoun Presbyterian Church the Rev. Keith Sackett officiating with interment in Fort Calhoun Cemetery.
Mr. Jahnel is survived by his wife, Mary; sons Harry of Oakland, Ray and Robert of Blair and Walter of Tekamah; daughter Mrs. Walter Christensen (Hazel) of Kennard; sisters Mrs. Lena Anderson of Bruce, Wisconsin, Mrs. Rose Matthiesen and Mrs. Elsie Dornacker of Blair and a brother Chris of Blair.
Mr. Jahnel was born December 25, 1877 in Omaha. When he was one year of age his parents moved to a farm south of Blair where he lived until 1946 when he moved to Blair. He married Mary Schmidt of Fort Calhoun on January 6, 1904.
Pallbearers were Howard Craven, Kenneth Jahnel, Leonard Miller, Jack Rathjen, Rymer Fedde and Howard Widener.
Honorary pallbearers were Henry Wulbern, William Wulbern, Rudolph Kuhl, Robbie Andersen, Andrew Wiese and Fred R. Hansen.
The Sievers Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Services for Fritz Jahnel Held Saturday
Fritz Jahnel passed away at McBride Nursing Home May 25th at the age of 89 years and 5 months. He was born in Omaha to Frank and Bertha Jahnel on Dec. 25, 1877. At the age of one year he moved with his parents to a farm south of Blair and resided in that community until 1946 when he moved into Blair.
On January 6, 1904 he was united in marriage to Mary Schmidt at Fort Calhoun, Nebraska. To this union six children were born. One son died in infancy.
He is survived by his wife, Mary; four sons, Harry of Oakland, Nebraska, Walter of Tekamah, and Ray and Robert of Blair; and one daughter, Mrs. Walter (Hazel) Christiansen of Kennard, Nebr. also 6 grandchildren; one brother, Chris Jahnel of Blair; 3 sisters, Mrs. Lena Anderson of Bruce, Wisconsin, Mrs. Elsie Dornacker and Mrs. Rose Matthiesen, both of Blair.
Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at the Fort Calhoun Presbyterian Church with Rev. Keith Sackett conducting the service. Burial under the direction of the Sievers Mortuary was made in the Fort Calhoun cemetery.
