Evelyn was very active all her life. She and her husband were lifelong farmers. Her additional duties included keeping the farm's books. Evelyn was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Williston, OH where she was a member of the Rachel Circle. She was also a member of the F.O.E. #197 Ladies Auxiliary in Toledo. Evelyn loved to dance and she was active in several dance groups. She was the vice-president of the Bowman-Seniors Dance Club of Toledo and the treasurer of the Kingsway Dance Group, Kingsway, OH. Evelyn enjoyed dancing, gardening, cooking, baking, and most of all, her family. She was always on the go and attended TAI-CHI classes in Oregon, OH. She and her husband loved animals, especially horses which they had for many years.
Survivors include her daughters, Diane L. (Darryl) Traver and Carolyn J. (Ned) Sleek, both of Curtice, OH; grandchildren, Elaine (Dale) Gardner, Rose McKee, Bruce (Karen) Traver, Renee' (Patrick) Moore, Alan and Eric Schimming and families, and great-grandchildren, Allison, Kristen, Kurt, Nathan, Nicholas, Seth and Tyler. Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter, Kathleen R. Schimming, and several sisters and brothers.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 26, 2004 in St. John Lutheran Church, Williston. Visitation will be in the Robinson-Henn-Brossia Funeral Home, Genoa, from 2-9 p.m. Friday, with family present from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Interment will be in the Allen Township Cemetery, Williston. The family suggests that memorials in Evelyn's name be to the church or the Allen-Clay Joint Fire District Station #1, Williston.
