Services for Walter Michalk, 79, of La Grange were held April 26 at Mt.
Calvary Lutheran Church in La Grange with the Rev. Dennis Bragdon
officiating.

Burial followed at La Grange City Cemetery.

Michalk died April 24 at his residence.

He was born Dec. 3, 1919, in Port Arthur, Texas, the son of Oswald and
Louise Schramm Michalk.

Michalk was united in marriage with Ethlyn Blaha on Oct. 3, 1950, in
Houston.

He was a construction foreman and supervisor and served during World War II
in the U.S. Navy. He was affiliated with Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church where
he served as church elder.

Michalk was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife; a son and daughter-in-law, Glen and Judy Michalk
of Killeen, two daughters and sons-in-law, Genie and Jim Cook of Austin and
Susan and Lee Richards of La Grange; two brothers, Vastine Michalk of La
Grange and Jesse Michalk of Lynn Haven, Fla.; three sisters, Ruby Heintschel
of La Porte, Beatrice Kominczak of Houston and Florence Hudler of Sugar
Land; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society or Mt.
Calvary Lutheran Church Building Fund.
