OF TRUXTON DIES
George Ackerman, 50, of Truxton, who had been ill only a short time, died Monday shortly after he had been admitted to Syracuse Memorial Hospital.
A native of Topeka, Kan., Mr. Ackerman was born April 6, 1900, the son of the late John and Anna Ackerman. He was a veteran of World War I having served in the United States Navy. Mr. Ackerman was a member of Truxton Post 963, American Legion and was past Commander of the Post. He was a communicant of St. Patrick's Church, and had been employed by the County Highway Department for several years.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Frances Atkinson Ackerman; two sons, S/Sergt. Robert Ackerman, U.S. Army in Germany, and George Ackerman of Fort Worth, Tex.; two daughters, Miss Joan Ackerman of Syracuse and Miss Kay Ackerman of Truxton; seven brothers, Peter, Clem, Jake, Thomas, Joseph, Dean and Edward Ackerman; and four sisters, Mrs. Mary McCall of Truxton, Mrs. Kate Jacobs and the former Miss Clara and Miss Pauline Ackerman of Kansas.
Military funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Friday at the home and at 9:30 a.m. in St. Patrick's Church, Truxton. Interment will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery. Friends may call at the home today and Thursday afternoon and evening.
