Sheboygan Press, October 31, 1930:
Seated at a table in the White Way Inn, also known as John's Place, 813 Michigan avenue, at 11:05 p.m., Thursday, Arthur Koeppen, 49, suffered a heart attack and fell dead to the floor. John J. Spalinger is the owner of the saloon.
George Meggers, bartender, Marvin Schueffner, Route 2, Sheboygan, and Erwing Nennig, 1338 Lenz court, were present when he died. They were playing a mechanical baseball machine in one end of the bar room.
Police and Coroner C.N. Sonnenburg were called. The body was removed to the Robert H. Kroos Funeral Home.
Coroner Sonnenburg announced after an examination of the body of Mr. Koeppen, that death came from heart attack.
Mr. Meggers said that Mr. Koeppen had been at the bar since 6 p.m., [unreadable] sat in the [unreadable] he had been [unreadable] root beer and fountain soda, Mr. Meggers said.
Mr. Koeppen was born in Sheboygan, November 8, 1881 and was employed as [unreadable] for many years. He is survived by a daughter, Marcella and a brother, Albert, of this city, and a sister, Mrs. Ernest Mester of Lyons, Ill.
Funeral services will be held at the Robert Kroos Funeral Home Saturday afternoon with the Rev. E. Krueger officiating. Burial will me made in Lutheran cemetery.
