He was a merchant, store owner according to the 1920 census, his store was at 83 Nassau ST in New York City. In 1920 he was living at 463 4th Avenue in Astoria Queens NYC. Hedwig and his son Adolph are also buried in the same cemetery. His son William is buried in Kittery Maine.
