Birth name Alfred Loewy, son of Adolph Loewy and Mary Horschitz from Bohemia Austria. He married Hedwig Reich (her brother Hugo changed the family name to Rake) Lechner August 11 1898 in Manhattan NYC. Father of William Lechner 1899-1973 and Adolph Lechner 1904-1991 (both born Loewy, name change to Lechner must have happened after 1904. He immigrated to the US from Austria through England. He is found on a census in 1891 in Hampstead, London England. He arrived at Ellis Island, NYC on September 9, 1893 on a ship called Luciana from Liverpool England. He applied for naturalization in 1901 with his brother in law Hugo Reich (Rake) as a sponsor and in 1904 applied for a US passport. He was a merchant, store owner according to the 1920 census, his store was at 83 Nassau ST in New York City. In 1920 he was living at 463 4th Avenue in Astoria Queens NYC. Hedwig and his son Adolph are also buried in the same cemetery. His son William is buried in Kittery Maine.
