Eleanor G. Garber was born December 14, 1926 in Platte Center, Nebraska to Anton and Anna (Borchers) Hassebrook. She married Eldon Garber on June 3, 1951 at Zion Lutheran Church-Grand Prairie. After living in various places they settled in North Bend, Nebraska in 1977. In 2009, following the death of her husband, Eleanor moved to Crown Villa in Columbus. She was a homemaker and worked as a cook at the Birchwood Manor in North Bend. Eleanor was a member and past president of the V.F.W. Auxiliary. She was also a member of St. Peter's Church in North Bend, LWML, and the church quilting group. Eleanor enjoyed sewing, gardening and playing the piano.
She is survived by:

Son-in-law: Donald Chromy of Morse Bluff, NE
14 Grandchildren and 18 Great Grandchildren
Brother: William (Norma) Hassebrook of Madison, NE
Sister-in-law: Phyllis Hassebrook of Columbus, NE
Sister-in-law: Marcy Carter of Omaha, NE
