She attended school in Platte Center, Nebraska. She married Fred J. Borchers on January 8, 1924 at Platte Center. They resided in the Platte Center area until 1935 when they moved to the Genoa, Nebraska area. In 1944 the moved to the Monroe, Nebraska area.
Lydia was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, a charter member of Zion Ladies Aid and the Monroe Wattsville Extention Club. She was a homemaker, enjoyed gardening, flowers and crocheting. She also enjoyed making quilts for the family and world relief.
