Her family moved to Portland when she was a child. During WWII, Katherine was a welder in the Portland shipyards. Katherine lived in Newberg for 70 years and was a member of Zion Lutheran Church. Katherine and Albert LaJoie were long-time co-owners of Newberg Garbage Service. She loved to fish, sew, read, crochet, and she especially loved to spend time with her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Henry LaJoie; and her youngest son, Leonard LaJoie. She is survived by her children, Sandra Wilkins, Merlin LaJoie (Sandy), Janice LaJoie and Linda Jenkins; and by her sister, Ruth Flud.
