Joan Howard Rutherford of Bean Station, TN and formerly of Tugglesville, Bell County, KY, walked thru the heavenly gates on 6 February 2018 at Morristown-Hamblen Hospital, Morristown, TN.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother Roger in 2012.
She was born 30 December 1937 in the coal camp of Insull, Harlan County, KY to the late Virgil "Boot" and Flossie Campbell Howard.
Joan was a graduate of Bell County High School and received her BS from Cumberland College, Williamsburg, KY. She taught the physical sciences and chemistry at old and new Bell County High School for 31 years.
She was a member of Noeton Missionary Baptist Church, Bean Station, TN.
Joan is survived by her husband of 51 years, Jerald of Bean Station; sister Pat (John) Brown of Mooresburg, TN; two nephews and numerous cousins.
A memorial service will be held at 2 PM, Saturday 24 March 2018 at Noeton Missionary Baptist Church, 359 Newman Hollow Road, Bean Station, TN.
