Delpha Walz Marshall, 95 of Idaho Falls, Idaho, passed away peacefully January 19, 2018, at her home. Delpha was born on January 22, 1922, to Conrad Ludwig and Aurelia Billeter Walz in Burton, Idaho, to a family of seven children. She grew up and attended schools in Rexburg, Idaho, graduating from Madison High School.

Delpha grew up helping with all the chores on her parent’s farm. She was a hard worker taking care of animals, working in the fields and in the garden. Through all of this she learned to have a strong determination to do hard things. She loved gardening and working outdoors. Growing flowers was her specialty. Her greatest joy was found in helping others and supported many grandchildren with their education. She had the unique ability to make everyone feel welcome, important, and special in her life.

After completing High school, Delpha attended the LDS Hospital School of Nursing, graduating August 29, 1943. She worked at the LDS Hospital for six years in the obstetrics department. After going to work for District 7 Health Department of Idaho, she increased her skills by attending the University of Washington earning her Pediatric Nurse Practitioner’s Certificate. She also attended UCLA to complete her Women’s Health Care practitioners certificate. She was one of the first female nurse practitioners in the State of Idaho and conducted women’s health clinics for many years in Eastern Idaho.

George and Delpha began dating while she was in nursing school and married June 26, 1944, in Blackfoot, Idaho. They established their home on the family farm in Idaho Falls, where she helped her husband in all facets of the farming operation, raising a large wonderful garden every year. They celebrated their 66th anniversary prior to his passing.

Delpha was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and loved to participate in primary and young women when she was young. She remained faithful all her life.

Delpha is survived by her three daughters, Trudy (Milton) Butler of San Antonio, Texas, Elaine (John) Childs of Salt Lake City, Utah, and Pat (Fred) Walker of Idaho Falls; and one son, Mike (Kelli) Marshall of Idaho Falls; a sister Rhea Hall; 11 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, her parents, 2 brothers, 3 sisters; sons in law, Milton, and John.

We wish to thank Dr. Scott Taylor for his gentle care, the wonderful professionals of Advanced Home Health; the loving care that the “angels” of Hospice of Eastern Idaho gave our dear mother during the last weeks of our mother’s life. You were so loving and tender to her. We also appreciate the vigilant, loving care of the members of the Sage Lakes Ward.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday January 26, at Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First St. The family will receive friends from 6-7:30 p.m., Thursday, January 25, at Coltrin Mortuary and one hour prior to services. Interment will be at Fielding Memorial Park Cemetery.
