Mrs. Benedicta Burkhart, a long resident of Three Oaks, died at the county home at Berrien Springs, Mich., March 12, where she had gone last fall to make her home. Funeral services were held morning, at 8:00, from St. Mary’s Church, Fr. Hammer administering the High Mass service. Burial was made at Forest Lawn Cemetery.

Very little is known of lady's life, but it has been learned from her old friends, that she came from Germany about 1868, from the same place that the Rists came from, Pfronten, Bavaria, where she was born in November, 1845.

It is also learned that she came to America about 1867 or 1868, and made the trip with her husband on their honeymoon. Mr. Burkhart passed away some 40 years ago. One daughter Anna, born in 1870, passed away 17 years ago, and since that time Mrs. Burkhart had lived alone until last fall in her old home on Cherry Street.

She leaves no relatives in this country that are known here, but she leaves many nearby friends in this vicinity.
