Patty Bushman Nielson
1939 - 2018

Early Life: Patty was born February 18, 1939, to Mitchell Smith Bushman and Glenda Porter Bushman. She grew up in Show Low, Arizona.
Life’s Work | Service | Interests: Her college degree from Brigham Young University was in elementary education. On September 5, 1961, she married Frederick Pratt Nielson, a second lieutenant in the United States Air Force at the time. Their first three years together were spent in France, which Patty always considered an extended honeymoon. Together they had five children. M'Li Hoki of Pleasant Grove learned incredible organization skills from her mom, and as a landscape business owner taught Patty to prune her peach tree. Joel Nielson, of Layton, learned to speak at eight months from his mom and taught Patty to appreciate her own skill with words by pointing out that "you're already an author" when Patty finished her first novel at age 78. Heather Wimmer, of Kansas City, learned educational excellence from her mom and taught Patty to keep a regular blog. Paige Ladd, of Henderson, Nevada, learned to sew from her mom and taught Patty to weave chapters together in a way that flows for a full-length novel. Kirsta Evans, of Henderson, Nevada, learned to present information clearly and lovingly to children from her mom, and followed in Patty's footsteps by becoming a professional teacher. Patty enjoyed 68 years of marriage to Fred, telling stories to her 18 grandchildren, traveling to five continents and serving a mission in Tonga with her husband. She lived a life full of travel, family, belief, stories and fun. Patty Bushman Nielson, of Alpine, Utah, died Monday, March 12, 2018, due to a car accident.
