Agnes Braun

Agnes C. Braun, 88, of Burlington, died at 2:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 21, 2000, at St. Francis Continuation Care Center.

Born Aug. 13, 1912, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Andrew and Anna Kelleher Moehn. On Sept. 26, 1933, she married Joseph Edward Braun in Burlington. He died Sept. 27, 1994.

Mrs. Braun was a homemaker and also worked as a librarian for Notre Dame High School until her retirement.

She was a member of Sts. John and Paul Catholic Church, the League of Women Voters, Knights of Columbus Women's Auxiliary and St. Francis Auxiliary. She had many poems and short stories published and enjoyed spending time with those who were homebound.

Survivors include three sons, Richard Braun of Burlington, Michael Braun of Sun City West, Ariz., and James Braun of Dubuque; four daughters, Mary Smith of Mount Pleasant, Carol Brandt and Sister Kathy Braun, both of Burlington, and Kristina Cooper of Tempe, Ariz.; one brother, Francis Moehn of Fort Madison; 21 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, two sons and one brother.

A rosary will be recited at 4 p.m. today in Prugh's Chapel. Following a 7 p.m. Christian wake service, the family will receive friends until 9 p.m.

The funeral for Mrs. Braun will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. John's Catholic Church, with the Revs. John Hyland and Patrick Hilgendorf officiating. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
