Francis Henry Moehn, 90, died at 12:50 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2006 at Fort Madison Community Hospital.

He was born Feb. 26, 1916 at Burlington to Andrew C. and Anna C. Kelleher Moehn.

He married Evelyn Catherine Bohnenkamp July 30, 1938 in Fort Madison. She preceded him in death Sept. 8, 1995.

He and his wife owned and operated the former Round-Up Tavern from 1945 to 1956. He then worked from 1958 to 1981 as a letter carrier with the U.S. Postal Service. He graduated from St. Paul's High School in Burlington in 1934. He was a member of Ss. Mary and Joseph Church, Knights of Columbus and National Association of Letter Carriers.

He is survived by three sons, Darrell (special friend Niki McPherson) Moehn and Daniel (wife Kate) Moehn, both of Burlington, and Dave (wife Janice) Moehn of Fort Madison; five daughters, Nancy (husband Darrel) Thannert and Suzanne (husband James) Lair, both of Fort Madison, Jeanne (husband Gary) Welsh of Montrose, Cynthia (husband Dave) Morey of Rockford, Ill. and Mary (husband Chuck) Chambers of Davenport; 20 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, six stepgreat-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren, one stepgreat-great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.

Besides his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by one brother and one sister, three granddaughters and one great-grandchild.

Friends may call after 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 8 at King-Lynk Funeral Home, and the family will meet with friends from 5:30 to 8 p.m., with a wake service at 7 p.m.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 9 at Ss. Mary and Joseph Church, with the Rev. Troy Richmond officiating.

Burial will be at Gethsemane Cemetery in Fort Madison.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for Ss. Mary and Joseph Church. Contributions may be left at King-Lynk or at the church on the day of the service.
