She was the second of six children. Lucille was baptized at Christ Lutheran Church, rural Columbus on April 10, 1914. She was confirmed at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Creston on April 1, 1928. Lucille taught Sunday School and was a member of the Luther League. She attended District #33 Platte County, Bohett School and graduated from Creston High School in 1932.
Lucille was united in marriage to Melvin C. Petersen on December 11, 1941, at St. Peter's Lutheran Church. She then became a member of Zion Lutheran Church, rural Platte Center, Nebraska, and in 1951 joined Grace Lutheran Church in Platte Center. On December 11, 1994, she joined Peace Lutheran Church in Columbus.
Lucille was a lifelong resident of Platte County, living in the Creston, Platte Center, and Columbus area. She worked beside her husband on the family farm west of Platte Center till June of 1979 when they retired to Columbus. She enjoyed flowers, gardening, traveling, and visiting with family. In 1980 they were recognized as Aksarben Pioneer Farm Family for farms in the family for over 100 years.
