Unrelenting death has taken an energetic young man's life in the person of the fish and wildlife warden Friedrich Wilhelm Hegemann of Mayville, who left us Sunday morning at 9:15 a.m., following a several month illness.

He was born August 9, 1870 in Mayville, reaching the age of 39 years and 27 days; his parents were Mr. & Mrs. Bernhard Muhle, who lived here many years. As a young boy he was adopted by the Hegemann couple, where he continued to live and grow up. He was always a brave and ordinary young man, who enjoyed a wide circle of friends.

As a young man Mr. Hegemann learned the painting trade and then pursued that career, until he was several years ago, named the fish and wildlife warden of Dodge County, a vocation he followed with great diligence.

During May of last year, he became sick, underwent an operation at St. Agnes Hospital, Fond du Lac, but his condition improved very little. He returned to Mayville and on June 8th of this year, he entered the sanitarium in Wales, Waukesha County. The care there did not curb his illness. Many friends from Mayville visited him during his stay in Wales, causing great joy to the inmate.

His future at the place was dim, so Mr. Hegemann returned to his home in Mayville, his friends and his elderly foster mother. Monday morning of last week, Wilhelm Hillen, Gustav Prochnow and Heinrich Faust had gone to Wales and the same evening they returned with him and after several days his young life ended, bringing sorrow to the foster mother, his many friends and acquaintances.

His surviving five brothers and two sisters are: Heinrich Muhle, Canada; Friedrich, Hermann and Franz Muhle, Colfax, Nebraska; Wilhelm Muhle, Mayville; Mrs. Conrad Faust, Mayville; and Mrs. Minna Luesche of Richland, Nebraska.

The funeral will be tomorrow Wednesday afternoon, originating at the house of mourning, under the auspices of the Turner Society "Eintracht", of which he was a member and from there the mortal remains of the slumbering one will be placed to final rest on Graceland Cemetery. To the grieving relatives and friends we express our heartfelt sympathy.

Yesterday afternoon the last honors were shown to Wm. Hegemann, a young man well known in our city as well as throughout the county, since he was our fish and game warden. For four months he had struggled bravely with the dreaded white plague, consumption, and when death claimed him Sunday morning at 9:15 he was released from much earthly suffering.

Mr. Hegemann was born Aug. 9, 1870 in Mayville. Thus he attained the age of only 39 years and 27 days. His parents were Mr. and Mrs, Bernhard Muhle but while he was still in tender years his mother died, whereupon the Hegemann's adopted him and with them he has since made his home.

He was a painter by trade but for several years has been fish and game warden of Dodge county, which responsible position he filled very conscientiously.

In May last year he became ill and went through an operation at St. Agnes hospital, Fond du Lac but his condition improved little if any. He returned to Mayville and last June the 8th he went to the sanatorium at Wales, Waukashau, Co. but the treatments did not benefit him much. Since Mr. Hegemann wished to see his relatives and friends once more, he was brought back to Mayville last week Monday, where he breathed his last surrounded by his people who made every effort to improve his condition. However, before the week was over he had passed away forever.

Mrs. Hegemann survives him, as do five brothers, Henry Muhle in Canada, Fred, Frank and Herman Muhle in Colfax Co., Nebraska and William Muhle in Mayville; also two sisters, Mrs. Conrad Faust in Mayville and Mrs. Minna Buesche in Richland, Nebraska.

The funeral took place yesterday afternoon under the auspices of the Turnverein Eintracht, of which the deceased had been a member and the remains were laid to rest at Graceland. May he rest in peace.
