Son of William & Minnie (Brummet) Witthuhn.
With his parents moved to the Callaway farm in 1919; attended school at District 243; mother died when he was 18; took charge of his 10 younger brothers and sisters, providing them a home.
Married: June 4, 1952, to Virginia Waldron in Callaway.
Moved to Kearney in 1999 due to his failing health.

Activities: served on the District 243 School Board, Delight Township Board and the rural fire board; belonged to the Callaway Gun Club, Seven Valleys Rodeo Association and Broken Bow Elks Club, managed the town baseball team; enjoyed bowling, hunting, shooting skeet, playing pool, cards and traveling; was an avid Nebraska football fan; loved farming and raising cattle; enjoyed having a few head of longhorns on the farm; was a loving husband and father.

Survivors include his wife; son, Johnie of Callaway; daughter, Susan Leise of Cedar Rapids; brothers, Elmo of Callaway and Jack of South Carolina; sister, June Rodine of Colorado Springs, Colo.; six stepgrandchildren; and one stepgreat-grandchild; also daughter-in-law, Janet Witthuhn of Callaway; son-in-law, Virgil Leise of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren, Jay Witthuhn of Tecumseh, Holly Jorgenson of Hastings, Ann Leise of Cedar Rapids and Neelie Witthuhn; and great-grandchild, Ryen Dickman of Hastings.

Was preceded in death by his parents, six sisters and five brothers.
