Police found Diane and Carrol [sic] in their apartment. They had been stabbed to death. Their children, Diane, 3, and James, 6 mos., were the only witnesses.

Darlene had filed for divorce. Carrol stabbed her in the heart area and back. He then stabbed himself in the heart area 10 times. He still held the pocket knife in his right hand.
He left a note for his father, Emil, saying the railroad had laid him off.
A neighbor had called police because the children were crying and screaming.
