Funeral Rites Slated Today For Dreyfuss – Prominent Civic, Financial Leader Dies Here at 67
Funeral services for Albert M. Dreyfuss Sr., 67, vice president of First Federal Savings and Loan Assn. here, will be held at 3:30 p.m. Monday in B'Nai Zion Temple on Southfield Road.
Rabbi David Lefkowitz will officiate. Burial will be in Hebrew Rest Cemetery, under the direction of Wellman's Funeral Home.
Mr. Dreyfuss, a native of Shreveport, died at 11:45 Saturday in his home at 1139 Janther Pl. He was a senior partner of Dreyfuss and Blumberg Insurance Agency. His father was one of the founders of First Federal Savings and Loan in 1887.
A member of Shreveport Lodge of Masons, Mr. Dreyfuss was past Exalted Ruler of Elks, past Potentate of El Karubah Shrine, treasurer and member of the board of directors of Shrine Hospital since its founding, 33 degree Scottish Rite Mason, a member of the Sojourners of Barksdale Field, the Heroes of '76, member of B'Nai Zion Congregation, member of the Harmony Club and Pine Acres Country Club. He was also past president of both Shreveport and Louisiana Assns. of Insurance Agents.
Survivors include the widow, Celeste Lahourcade Dreyfuss, two sons, Albert M. Dreyfuss Jr., Sacramento, Calif., and Jules H. Dreyfuss, Shreveport; two sisters, Sadie Dreyfuss and Mrs. Aaron Selber, both of Shreveport; five grandchildren, three nieces, and two nephews.
Pallbearers will be Aaron Selber Jr., Ben Sour, Walter Grant, Armand Ross Jr., William Blumberg, Samuel L. Lieber, Mandel Selber Jr., Samuel Freyer, and Charlton Meyer Jr.
Honorary pallbearers are past Potentates of El Karubah Temple, 33 degree masons of the Scottish Rite, members of the Shreveport Assn. of Insurance Agents, and the board of directors of First Federal Savings and Loan Assn. of Shreveport.
