Doris was a long time resident of Shillington before moving to Wyomissing in her later years. She was the beloved wife of the late Carl Dengler Wiest, who passed away on August 22, 1994. Born in Mohnton, she was the daughter of the late John and Florence (Lahens) Hornberger.
Besides being a devoted homemaker, she was very active socially with many girlfriends, her husband and her family. Doris was a member of the Berkshire Country Club, seasonal subscriber of the Reading Symphony Orchestra, volunteered on the women's committee of the Reading Symphony Orchestra, was past president of the Governor Mifflin Music Parents Association and member of First Presbyterian Church in Reading. Doris had a passion for traveling all over the world and particularly liked golf, music, bridge, social events and ballroom dancing with her husband. She enjoyed spending summers in Ocean City, Avalon, Stone Harbor, N.J., and winters in Palm Springs, Calif., and Naples, Florida with her family and friends.
Doris is survived by her three jewels: Ann Kielinski, wife of Walter, of Malvern; Joan Marie Wiest, of New York, New York; Ellen W. Spiegel, wife of Brad, of Malvern; grandchildren: Kyle B. Kielinski, husband of Linette (Messina); Craig B. Kielinski; Benjamin C. Spiegel; and William A. Spiegel; great-grandchildren: Bailey D. , Mason C., W. Carver and Ronin R. Kielinski.
She was predeceased by her sister Betty H. Pleam.
Celebration of Life Service will be held at Bean Funeral Home, 129 E. Lancaster Ave., Shillington 19607, on Friday, August 31, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. Amy S. Landis, Certified Celebrant will officiate. Interment will follow at Mohnsville Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends from 10:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
