Anna was born April 7, 1926, even though her birth certificate says April 8 and grandma Dohmen should know! The blessed event happened on a farm in Madison County to Joseph and Regina (Dusel) Dohmen. She graduated from eighth grade in St. Bernard. She spent her summers being a nanny to Doctor Lenerts children in Humphrey. Due to tough times, she moved with her best friend Phyllis Adams to Omaha where she worked in the laundry at St. Catherine's Hospital.
On Aug. 30, 1948, she married Harry Chandler of Omaha. They began selling used furniture and appliances and eventually started three stores in Omaha where they sold new furniture and appliances. The family was expanded with the birth of three daughters: Sharon (Randy Herchenbach), Debbie (Ivan Pfeifer) and Janet (Jim Nathan). In 1967, they bought Klub 81 in Humphrey where they ran a restaurant and gas station. They sold it in 1979, and retired in Lindsay. Because she felt she had more to give, she went to work helping those that needed health care in their homes for several years.
She loved dancing, music, quilting, embroidery, crocheting beaded socks, repairing clothes from the farm, gardening, playing cards, fishing and helping others. But most of all she loved her children and their children.
She is survived by her three daughters, six grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, two sisters Elizabeth (Melvin Bender) and Patty (Kenny Brandl); and a special friend Elmer Adams along with many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, son-in-law Randy, brothers Mike (Jean), Ferd (Jane), Vincent (Sharon) and Ervin (Pat); sisters Rosalia (Marian Werner) and Deloris (Denis Zach).
She lived the last three years in Countryside Home in Madison. She joined the angels peacefully on Sept. 29, 2018, at Faith Regional Hospital.
