Roy John Sifferlin, age 84, formerly of 26 Steele Avenue, Shelby, died Sunday, November 4, 2018 at OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital.

Roy was born August 27, 1934 in Shelby the son of the late Francis and Cornelia T. (Maag) Sifferlin. He was a 1953 graduate of Shelby High School. For a short time, Roy worked at Main Street Furniture in Shelby and for the next 32 years he owned and operated Roy’s Interior Design in downtown Shelby. He was a lifelong member of Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church. He decorated the church for every occasion for over 50 years. One always knew when Roy was in the room or near by as he had an infectious and exuberant laugh. He never met anyone he didn’t like. He will be greatly missed by many.

Roy is survived by his brothers: Carl (Margaret) Sifferlin of Shelby and his twin: Ray (Ruth) Sifferlin of Ontario; sister-in-law: Sue Sifferlin of New Philadelphia; Many nieces and nephews and friends too numerous to count including the nuns at St. Francis Convent in Joliet, Illinois, where his sister resided for many years. He was preceded in death by: parents; 2 sisters: Sr. Bernadette (Viola) Sifferlin, OSF and Rosemary Bricker; brother: Dr. John Sifferlin.

Family and friends are welcome on Tuesday, November 6, 2018 from 6-8 PM at Penwell Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby where the rosary will be recited at 8 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, November 7, 2018 at 11 AM at Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 29 West Street, Shelby. Father Chris Mileski will officiate. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.
