Esther Alice Zaiser (Krumland) lived with a simplicity that found joy in life's little pleasures. As a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she nurtured us with her "special" recipes (garnished with hugs and a quick wit).

She was born May 30, 1910 in Columbus, Nebraska. At age 90 she passed away on September 28, 2000 at Cottonwood Hospital, Murray, Utah, from natural causes complicated by a fall. In her last days, family continually surrounded her.

Esther married Donald D. Zaiser Dec. 15, 1935. Her husband, parents, one brother, five sisters, and two grandchildren preceded her in death. As a member of the Missouri Synod, Lutheran Church, Esther expressed a child-like faith in Jesus, her Lord and Savior. She was a charter member of Christ Lutheran Church in Murray, Utah.

Esther enjoyed her connections with friends in the Midvale, Utah community through her 20 years at J. C. Penney, Midvale, and her work as an Avon representative.

Her loved ones will always cherish the weekly Sunday ritual of Thanksgiving-like dinners at Grandma's. Crocheting for her loved ones brought Esther much joy, and left us with treasures for years to come.

She is survived by her children: Donald Zaiser (Shari) of Overland Park, KS; Sandy Lee (Duane) of Sandy, UT; and Bonnie Devenberg (John) of Draper, UT; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

The family would like to thank Dr. Kevin Stigge for his years of caring and the staff at Cottonwood Hospital for their attentiveness throughout.

Funeral services will be celebrated Tuesday, October 3, 2000, 9 a.m. at Christ Lutheran Church, 240 East 5600 South, Murray, Utah. Friends may call Monday, Oct. 2, from 6-8 p.m. at Goff Mortuary, 8090 South State, Midvale. Burial, Redwood Memorial Estates, 6500 South Redwood Road.

If desired, memorial contributions can be made to Christ Lutheran Church or Grace Lutheran Church in Esther's name.
