Lucille M. McKiernan, 87, of Cedar Rapids, died Friday afternoon, Aug. 27, 2010, at ManorCare Health Services. Funeral Mass: 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Ludmila Catholic Church by Father Thomas McDermott. Burial: St. John's Cemetery. Friends may call from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Monday at Papich-Kuba Janeba Chapel West, 1604 J St. SW, and after 9 a.m. Tuesday at the church. A vigil service begins at 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral chapel.

Lucille is survived by five children: Rose Urban, Washington, D.C.; Susan Novak and husband Jon, Center Point; Jean McKiernan-Struve and husband Ronald, Pella; Jane Trobaugh, Cedar Rapids and Ronald McKiernan and wife Lisa Hamilton, Sherrill; six grandchildren, Jeb and Ethan Novak, Jeremy and Joshua McKiernan and Emma and Adam McKiernan-Struve; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ethel Morrow of western Iowa and Maxine Dixon and husband Rick of Florida; and a brother, Ralph Reiling and wife Carolyn, Rembrandt.

She was preceded in death by a grandson, Jared McKiernan; parents, Wendy and Emma (Reiff) Reiling; and two brothers, Al and Harold Reiling.

Lucille was born Feb. 11, 1923, in rural Carroll County, Iowa and came to Cedar Rapids from Pocahontas in 1947. She was employed at Rockwell-Collins for 18 years until her retirement in 1984. She was a member of St. Ludmila Catholic Church, St. Regina-St. Anne's Circle and the Legion of Mary. Lucille also belonged to the Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. Ludmila Catholic Church.
