Laverne Whiteside "Bud� Leonhard, 89, of Columbus Junction, Iowa, died Friday, April 27, 2006 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City. Services will be Monday, May 1, 2006 at 1:30 p.m. at the Stacy-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services in Columbus Junction. Rev. Linda Baldwin of the United Presbyterian Church will officiate. Casketbearers will be Corey Leonhard, Katie Alman, Zachery Leonhard, Lucas Leonhard, Bobby Leonhard, Mitchell Leonhard, Nick Pugh and Salina Pugh. Honorary Casketbearers will be Andrew Leonhard and Daniel Alman. Burial will be at Columbus City Cemetery. Military Rites by the Allen Wright Hanft American Legion Post #100. Following the interment, there will be a time of food and fellowship at the United Presbyterian Church. Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 30, 2006 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the Columbus Junction United Presbyterian Church or the American Legion in memory of Bud. Bud was born December 20, 1916 in Columbus Junction, the son of Elliot and Pearl (Whiteside) Leonhard. On October 11, 1945, Bud was united in marriage to Geraldine Hughes at the Columbus City United Presbyterian Church. Bud was employed as a mechanic all of his life. He was a member of The American Legion and the United Presbyterian Church. He enjoyed working for and visiting anybody and everybody that came along.
Bud was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters-in-law Donna Hughes and Kathryn Hughes and many aunts and uncles.
