HERRGUTH--Will Hold Funeral Rites Thursday of Mrs. Carl Herrguth
Funeral services for Mrs. Carl Herrguth, 54, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, at the G.W. Viergutz home, 2105 Fifteenth street, and at 2:30 p.m. at the Immanuel Lutheran church. The Rev. A. H. Guettler, pastor, will officiate and burial will be made in the Columbus cemetery.
Mrs. Herrguth died suddenly of a heart attack last Thursday at La Paz, Baja, Mexico, a fishing resort near the southern tip of the lower California peninsula, where she and her husband had been vacationing. Her body is being brought to Columbus, and will lie in state at the G. W. Viergutz home from 5 p.m. Wednesday until the time of the services.
A life-long resident of Columbus, Mrs. Herrguth was born Vera Viergutz, daughter of G. W. and Anna Hunteman Viergutz, on Jan. 26, 1897. She received her education in the city schools.
Her marriage to Carl Herrguth took place Feb. 25, 1922 in Columbus.
A member of Immanuel Lutheran church, Mrs. Herrguth was active in the Sewing circle and other church organizations. She was also a member of Wayside Coutnry club.
During World War II, Mrs. Herrguth worked as a nurse's aid in the local hospitals, and during the past few years she assisted in this capacity when the Red Cross made its bloodmobile visits to Columbus.
Surviving Mrs. Herrguth are her husband; mother, Mrs. G. W. Viergutz, of Columbus; one sister, Mrs. Mark T. McMahon of Akron, Ohio; two brothers, Arthur of Omaha and Gus Viergutz of Columbus. Her father and one brother, Walter, preceded her in death.
