Barbara Amacher married William Henry Lighty on Jan 31, 1892 in Livingston Co, IL. They had five children: Raymond Jacob, Rolly John, David Harry, Ora Jay and Magdelena Elizabeth (Alexander).

Prior to her marriage to William Henry Lighty, Barbara had married Andrew Jackson Haun on Aug 24, 1886 in Livingston Co, IL. They had one child, who was Flora Marie Haun. The marriage was dissolved.

Barbara was one of thirteen children born to Jacob Amacher and Magdalena Shantz. The family resided in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada prior to moving to Livingston Co, IL in May of 1870. Their family was of the Mennonite faith.
