Chris was my 1st cousin once removed. Our mothers (aunt/niece) were very close and namesakes, living close by.
Chris and I hung out a lot until his family moved to Falls Church, but would see each other a few times a year. When his family moved to Richmond, it'd be 2 times a year.
I remember so vividly Chris bouncing back from the accident where he was riding his motorcycle and was broadsided by a car. The valiant surgeons were able to save his leg and Chris went on with his life. He went to Georgetown where he met his soulmate, Susan, who is most dear and a delight to share time with. They were blessed with their talented musician son, Caleb.
I went to Chris' wedding and started visiting again when I moved to Fredericksburg and Chris came back from Shanghai, China, where he & Susan had lived for 7 years or so..
Rest In Peace, Chrissy...you are reunited with your parents and mine. I'll imagine you're watching our Mamas dancing Polkas...

BROWN, Chris Carlton, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on May 12, 2019.
Born on November 20, 1952, in Sewickley, Pennsylvania to C. Carlton Brown and Laura Grabowiecka, Chris leaves behind his wife, Sue; son, Caleb; his brother, Dave and his wife, Kathryn; his sister, Marsha and her husband, Larry Pressel; and their loving families.
Chris graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Georgetown University, where he studied literature and Chinese. He lived in China for over a decade, working as Director of China Operations for the U.S.-China Business Council in Beijing, Director of China Operations for EG&G and later Founder and General Manager of Navion Software Development Company-Shanghai, a subsidiary of Capital One. He also worked as Director for International Business Development for AMF Bowling, Consumat Environmental Systems and consulted for KPMG and American Express.
Chris left the corporate world to teach reading and writing to children with special needs, and to write. His first novel, "Hoppergrass," was published by Henry Holt, a division of Macmillan, and Chris just finished his second novel.
Chris was a lifelong student of the Bible and lived to serve the Lord and love others.
A service to honor Chris' life will be held on Saturday, May 18, 2019, at 1 p.m. at Shady Grove United Methodist Church, 4825 Pouncey Tract Rd., Glen Allen, Va. 23059.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Caring Clothes Closet, a ministry that provides clothes for those in need. Caring Clothes Closet, 4825 Pouncey Tract Rd., Glen Allen, Va. 23059.
