“Gloria Adell “Butsie” Koehler Sohn passed away Saturday February 15, 2014 at the age of 81. She was born on February 12, 1933 in Seguin, TX to parents Herbert and Anita Koehler. Gloria spent a majority of her lifetime as a resident in the New Braunfels and Geronimo areas. A loving wife, mother, and grandmother, she supported and lived life through her husband Robert “Bob” Sohn for 55 years until his passing in 2007. She loved traveling, cooking, spending time in Rockport, and playing Bunko with her girlfriends. Butsie was an Oma in the Wurstfest Association and was a member of First Protestant Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. Survivors include her son Mark R. Sohn and his wife Lindy of New Braunfels; her son Mike K. Sohn and his wife Donna of New Braunfels; her step-grandchildren Trevor, Kami, Trey, and Skye; her grandchildren Garrett and Cullen; her sister Gladys Ploetz of Geronimo; her sister-in-law Thelma Koehler of Seguin; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 22, 2014 at 10:30 A.M. at Doeppenschmidt Funeral Home in New Braunfels, with burial to follow at Lone Oak Cemetery in Geronimo. Rev. Rich Van Natter will lead the service. Butsie loved flowers, but friends may also make a memorial donation to First Protestant Church, Edenhill Communities, or to Hope Hospice.
