Mrs. Davant died Jan. 24, 2000 at her residence. She was born Sept. 9, 1914 in Markham to the late Louie Casper and Ellen Roberts Cornelius.
She was a resident of Palacios since 1974 and a member of St. John's Episcopal Church in Palacios.
Survivors include four daughters, Carolyn Fricke of Port Lavaca, Cornelia Perry and husband Graham of Alberta, Canada, Kathy Higgins of Port Lavaca, Gennie Wilson and husband David of Sulphur, La; two sons, Jim Davant and wife Sandra of Blessing and Bill Davant and wife Debbie of Victoria; 13 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John E. "Ted" Davant and by one brother, George Cornelius.
Pallbearers will include: James, Mike and Ethan Davant, Gregg Higgins, Kevin Wilson and Marty Crain.
Honorary pallbearers will include: Jon Grundhoefer, James Berger, Jerry Haines and Patrick Wiele.
Memorials may be made to Hawley Cemetery Association, care of Ona Lee Pierce, Blessing, Texas or to Matagorda County Museum.
Arrangements are under the direction of Taylor Bros. Funeral Home.
