Actress. In a career spanning seven decades, she appeared on film, stage, and television, and was twice nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her roles in 'Midnight Cowboy' (1969) and 'Farewell, My Lovely' (1975). Her career began on stage and in films in the 1940s and '50s, and made her her television debut on the pilot episode of 'The Dick Van Dyke Show'. Her first major role was in 'Midnight Cowboy' alongside Jon Voight and Dustin Hoffman, and although she appeared on screen for about six minutes, her role earned her an Oscar nomination for best supporting actress. Her second nomination for the same award came in 1975 for 'Farewell, My Lovely,' playing in another brief appearance. Miles' more mainstream roles came in the 1982 adaptation of Agatha Christie's novel 'Evil Under the Sun' and Oliver Stone's 'Wall Street' in 1987, where she played a real estate agent and reprised the role in 2010's 'Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps,' one of her final film appearances.
