Clara was born to Solomon and Theresa Werner, on her parents' homestead west of Grover. On March 12, 1935, she married Dan Oster Sr., they farmed the Oster family farm at Beebe Draw. They retired to Greeley in 1983. An active member seventh-day Adventist Church, she belonged to the church's Dorcas Society, and held various church offices in the children's division and school.
