Mildred Cecelia “Milly” Thomsen was born December 30, 1929, on a farm south of Emerson to Richard (Dick) and Martha (Zimmerman) Von Seggern. She was baptized May 22, 1932, into the Lutheran Faith and confirmed March 25, 1945, at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Emerson. Milly graduated from Emerson High School in 1947. On October 5, 1947, Milly married Robert “Bob” Thomsen at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Emerson. The couple farmed south of Wakefield on the same farm for 67 years, until a tornado destroyed the farmstead in 2014 and they moved into Wayne. She started Kid’s Closet in Wayne from 1982 until retiring in 1993. Milly was active in church where she taught Sunday school, mid-week school, and held various offices in Ladies Aide and Duo Club. Milly was a 4-H Leader in two clubs. She belonged to the Grace Bible Study Group and Grace Lutheran Church. She liked her flowers, quilting, ceramics and feeding the birds. Milly loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Mildred (Milly) is survived by her children, Doreen (Myron) Heinemann of Elkhorn, Alan (Julie) Thomsen of Wayne, Janeen (Keith) Berg of Syracuse, and Leslie “Les” Thomsen of Long Pine; 17 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; two sisters, Phyllis Thomsen of Pender and Helen Bean of Papillion; nieces and nephews.

Milly was preceded in death by her husband, Bob on March 18, 2019; her parents; a brother, Donald Von Seggern; and a sister, Vivian Richards.
