Phyllis J. Thomsen, 97, of Pender, NE, died on Tuesday, January 23, 2024, at Heritage of Emerson Nursing Home. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 27, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Pender, NE, Pastor Karen Mcneill-Utecht will be officiating. The visitation will be held on Friday, January 26, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Pender. Burial will be in the St. Mark's Lutheran Church Cemetery near Pender. Memorials are suggested to the family for future designation.

Phyllis was born on November 9, 1926, at the family farm south of Emerson, NE, the daughter of Richard and Martha (Zimmerman) Von Seggern. She was united in marriage to Elmer Thomsen at St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Emerson, NE. To this union, three children were born, Lori, Bev, and Keith. Phyllis and Elmer farmed in the Pender area, until moving into Pender in 1990. She helped Elmer on the farm, raised a garden and chickens. Elmer died on March 6, 2005. She continued to live in her home until recently when she moved to Prairie Breeze Assisted Living in Pender. She enjoyed baking, working on puzzles, playing cards, and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her daughters, Lori Bentjen, and Bev Novak of Pender, NE; son, Keith (Jane) Thomsen of Pender, NE; grandchildren, Mike (Gretchen) Bentjen, Pam (Matt) Peters, Brad (Melinda) Bentjen, Amy (Jeff) Cogswell, Heidi (Jarrett) Thummel, Hayley Hallstrom(Mike Hallstrom), and Travis (Keri) Thomsen; twenty-four great-grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Elmer Thomsen; Sons-in-law, Curt Novak, and Fred Bentjen; grandchildren, Jana Bentjen, and Randy Novak; great-grandsons, Kyle Bentjen, and Keathen Cogswell; brother, Donald Von Seggern; sisters, Vivian Richards, Helen Bean, and Mildred Thomsen.
