She was united in marriage to Eugene “Gene” Smith on March 7, 1945. To this union 6 children were born, Glenda (Harlan) Deckard, Lena (Richard) Bridges, Bettie Sue Chronister, Winford “Buck” Smith, Analene “Angie” (Dennis) Foulks, Denford “Den” (Mary) Smith. 16 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren, 14 great-great grandchildren.
She is survived by 5 children, Glenda, Lena, Bettie, Analene and Denford. Three brothers, Jewell (Mary Ellen) Williams, Jessie (Edith) Williams, Dale (Earlene) Williams, one sister Connie Bettis, numerous nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her husband Gene, her parents Gib and Lena Williams, one son Winford “Buck” Smith, five brothers Joe, Jennings, Junior, James and Jerry, sisters Polly Van Winkle, Cindy Jackson, Eugenia Waggoner and Sherry Williams.
Known by most as Irene, she loved her family, gardening, hunting, fishing, sewing and watching Gunsmoke. Most of all she loved the Lord, her family and the Bible.
Graveside services will be 10:00 am Friday, July 5, 2019 at the Many Springs Cemetery with Bro. David Case officiating. Arrangements under the direction of the Clary Funeral Home, Alton, MO.
