Leone Lubben, age 95, of Wheaton, Minnesota passed away June 15, 2019 at the Traverse Care Center in Wheaton.

Funeral Services for Leone will be held Friday, June 21, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church in Wheaton with Rev. Michael Breach officiating. Visitation will be held Friday morning one hour prior to service time at the church.

Interment will be in St. John Lutheran Cemetery, rural Wheaton with burial rites by Pastor Tom Volker. Pallbearers will be Leone’s grandchildren.

Leone Alice Davidson was born December 22, 1923 in rural Stevens County to Emory and Bertha (Jones) Davidson. She was baptized and confirmed at the United Methodist Church in Chokio. She grew up on the family farm and graduated from Chokio High School in 1942. After graduation she worked at the Ag School in Morris.

Leone was united in marriage to Walter Lubben of Norcross, Minnesota on May 26, 1946 at St. John Lutheran Church in Wheaton. They spent most of their married life on the family farm near Norcross, Minnesota where they raised their five children. They retired to their home in Wheaton in 1995. She became a resident of Traverse Care Center in 2007, enjoying the many activities including the bell choir in her twelve years there. Leone was very active in her church, LWML, Redpath Homemakers, Redpath 4-H, and Norcross Study Club. Walter passed away October 26, 2010.

After raising her children she was employed as a baker for two restaurants in Wheaton. Her greatest joys were spending time with her family, playing cards, crafts and sewing, baking, reading and her flowers.

Leone is survived by her five children: Linda (Gary) Volker of Herman, MN; Larry (Sheila) Lubben of West Fargo, ND; Vicky Frigen of Jamestown, ND; Beth (Paul) Johnson of Alexandria, MN: and Steve (Rose) Lubben of Dumont, MN; sixteen grandchildren: Tom Volker, Rebecca Pruse, Jennifer Selander, Lia Dobrinz, Matthew Lubben, John Lubben, David Lubben, Lori Mecklenberg, Stacy Meck, Benjamin Mecklenberg, Jessica Dahlquist, Andrea Martin, Laura Hagstrom, Brian Johnson, Christopher Lubben and Ryan Lubben; thirty-nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.

Leone was preceded in death by her husband Walter; her parents; two sisters: Evelyn (Ray) Johnson; and Dorothy (Harold) Johnson; her brother Melvin (Altheda) Davidson; and her son-in-law Ken Frigen.
