Sidney was the youngest of 11 children born to Sam and Lottie Weiss. He married Anne Stoler on September 18, 1943, and was a loving husband for 62 years until her death in 2005. He joined the 15th Airborne Squadron in 1943, serving his country during World War II as an armorer gunner in the European Theater. His plane was shot down over Austria and he spent 13 months in a German POW camp. He was acknowledged for his service with several awards, including the Purple Heart. Sid and Anne moved to California and, along with his brother-in-law, started Casman and Weiss Manufacturing Company. In 1975, Sid and Anne retired to Las Vegas, where they ran art galleries and owned gift shops. He was preceded in death by his son, Ronald Weiss. Survivors include his son, Gary Weiss; daughter, Debra Firman; 3 children and 1 great-grandson.
