Daughter of George Frederick Combs and Ella May Brown, wife of William Henry Butler, whom she married on August 4, 1934 in Haines Falls, NY, and mother of William Bruce Butler.

Obituary - Mrs. Gertrude S. Butler, 29 years old, died last Thursday night at her home, 59 Jennings Avenue, Patchogue, after an illness. Mrs. Butler was born in Patchogue, a daughter of George and Ella M. Brown Combs. Her father is head custodian in the Patchogue school system. Besides her parents, Mrs. Butler leaves a son, William Bruce Butler, and six sisters, Mrs. N.B. Hawkins, of Patchogue, Mrs. E.F. Benjamin, of Utica, Mrs. Albert Hurd of Patchogue, Mrs. Raymond Boerjes, of Jamaica, Mrs. Jack Meyer, of Patchogue, and Miss Doris Combs of Patchogue. The funeral service was held at 3 p.m. Sunday at the home, 59 Jennings Avenue, the Rev. Hanington Wilson, rector of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, officiating. Interment was private in Oakwood Cemetery, Bay Shore.
