Daughter of George F. Combs and Ella M. Brown, wife of Edward Francis Benjamin, the son of David Frank Benjamin and Anna A. Sweezey, whom she married on June 13, 1921 in Patchogue, NY, and mother of Rae Combs Benjamin (married Edwin Thomas Bailey).

In 1910, Ella E. Combs, aged 9, was living in Brookhaven, NY, with her parents, George Combs, aged 35, and Ella Benjamin, aged 31, and siblings, Rachel M. Combs, aged 12, Sarah T. Combs, aged 10, and George F. Combs, aged 3. Her father was shown to be an engineer at a motor works.

In 1915, Ella E. Combs, aged 14, was living on Nottingham Avenue, Brookhaven, NY, in the home of her parents, George F. Combs, aged 40, and Ella M. Combs, aged 36, with siblings, Rachel M. Combs, aged 17, Sarah T. Combs, aged 16, and Gertrude S. Combs, aged 4. Her father was shown to be an engineer.

Marriage - Benjamin - Combs - Edward Benjamin, an employee in Roulston's store, surprised his many friends by announcing his marriage on June 13th to Miss Ella E. Combs, of Patchogue. The young couple were married by the Rev. E.A.W.H. Wilson in the Episcopal Church in Patchogue and left immediately for a few days in New York. Mrs. Benjamin was until her marriage, a stenographer in the office of Potter & Price in Patchogue. She is expecting to give up her position and they will make their home in Patchogue. Mr. Benjamin is continuing his work in the Roulston store and commuting to Sayville.

In 1930, Ella E. Benjamin, aged 28, was living at 47 Pine Street, Islip, NY, with her husband, Edward F. Benjamin, aged 28, and daughter, Rae C. Benjamin, aged 2, and widowed father-in-law, David Benjamin, aged 70. Her husband was shown to be a commercial traveler for a biscuit company.
