Joseph Kippes, 82, died Oct. 22, 1985, at the Stanton County Hospital, Johnson, after a short illness. Born Nov, 23, 1902, at Victoria to Jacob Kippes and Emma Hefner Kippes.

He married Anna Pearl Bitner, Aug. 21, 1928, at Johnson. He was a retired farmer and was a resident of Johnson all of his life.

He was a member of St. Bernadette Catholic Church, Johnson.

Survivors: wife, of the home; sons, LaVerne J., Yemassee, S.C., Duane E., Rose Hill; daughters, Lucille F. Riedel and Juanita P. Sosa, both of Johnson; brother, Bill, Topeka; sister, Margaret Durant, Mira Loma, Calif.; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the church, the Rev. Emil Dinkel. Burial will be at Johnson Cemetery. Rosary will be at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the church. Friends may call from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. Thursday at Phillips Mortuary, Ulysses. Memorials to the Alzheimer's disease in care of the Johnson State Bank.
