Peter H.Finkel of West Nyack passed away on Thursday June 25, 2009 he was 76. Pete was born, on November 12, 1932 on Long Island, NY to Jacob and Angela Finkel. He served in the U. S. Air Force during the Korean War and on Nov. 16, 1957 married the love of his life, Marilyn Grant, in St. Anthony's Church in Union City, NJ. He worked as an electrician and was a member of Local #3. Originally from Union City, NJ, they both went to the Holy Family School, from 1st grade thru High School. In 1962 they moved to West Nyack. He was an avid bowler who bowled with his wife at the Northvale Lanes and King Pin Bowling alleys. Pete was a 40year President of the West Nyack Little League, who also coached and managed teams. He started at Dexter Field, behind the King Pin Bowling alley and was instrumental with getting the new field, putting in the lights and the concession stand. Pete was involved with winning many District Championships and saw young men turn into champions, some making it into professional baseball. He was the first to start the Challenger League for special children. He loved all the kids who grew up on the fields and was known as "Uncle Pete". Both his son and daughter also managed teams and operated the concession stand at the little league field. He had a ball field named after him and was honored last year at a dinner naming him President Emeritus of West Nyack Little League. Peter is survived by his loving wife Marilyn, his daughter, Nancy Finkel of Garnerville, NY and his son, Peter Finkel and his wife Rosanne of Cornwall, NY, his two grandchildren Brooke Railo and her husband Craig and Peter Finkel, and his cherished great grandson, Luke Railo. He is also survived by three sisters, Ann Signhofen, Christine Haskell and Florence Finkel and many nieces and nephews. He enjoyed being with family and his children, grandchildren and great grandson were the love of his life. Family & Friends may call Sunday from 2 to 4 & 7 to 9 PM at the "Family Owned" Joseph W. Sorce F.H. Inc. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday at 11:00 am at St. Anthony's Shrine Church, 36 West Nyack Rd., Nanuet. Interment will be in St. Anthony's Cemetery, Nanuet.
