Rites Held Tuesday For Mrs. Lena Suhr
Mrs. Lena Suhr, 77, died Sunday, June 29, at a Fremont hospital. She suffered a stroke on Saturday June 21.
Mrs. Suhr, nee Hasebroock, was born at Dunlap, Iowa, May 13,1875. At the age of two, her parents and family left for an extended visit in Germany. Upon their return they settled on the Hasebroock farm northeast of Scribner.
In February of 1897 she and Johann H. D. Suhr were married. For five years Mr. and Mrs. Suhr farmed near Laurel. They then returned to this community and operated a farm northwest of Hooper.
Six children were born to this union, three of whom preceded their mother in death. In 1927, shortly after observing their 30th anniversary, Mr. Suhr died. Mrs. Suhr carried on with her farm work until eleven years ago when she moved to her home in Scribner. She was happy when at work and blessed with good health until it began failing this spring.
Mrs. Suhr was the last member of the Hasebroock family.
Survivors: three sons, Herman G., William H., and Edgar G., all of Hooper. Also 4 grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Mrs. Suhr was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon. Rev. Hugo Welchert officiated.
